Giving is not open yet.
Do Not Lose Hope is an informal community project started by friends. It is not a registered nonprofit, and gifts to it are not tax-deductible. We are not accepting money yet.
Why it is closed for now
Before anyone sends money, you should know who receives it, who can spend it, how it is recorded and what it paid for. Those answers are not settled yet, so there is no way to give on this website.
Two different kinds of money
Support for running DNLH is one thing: hosting, the web address, tools, and the time it takes to keep listings checked. Money meant for people in need is another: rent, fees, food or emergencies. DNLH does not give direct financial help. If that ever changes, it will be a separate fund with its own rules, and money given for one will not be used for the other.
What contributions would be for
When giving opens, contributions would cover the costs of running DNLH: hosting and the domain, keeping resource listings checked and current, and printing materials for places where people look for help. The final list will be published before any money is accepted.
What has to be in place first
A named recipient (a person, an organization or a fiscal sponsor). Two people who approve spending. A simple record of money in and out. A clear answer on whether any receipt can be given. A yearly public summary of what was spent.
Help never depends on giving
Everything on DNLH is free to use. No listing, page or tool asks for money.
What you can do now
Send a useful page to someone who asked for help. That costs nothing and is often the most useful thing.
