- Court file requested: complaint, minute orders, DEJ order, dismissal
- Program type confirmed: deferred entry of judgment (guilty or no contest plea)
- DEJ granted on or after January 1, 1997
- Charges dismissed after I finished
Before filing
- Talked with an immigration attorney or accredited representative
- Asked if I should also file under Penal Code 1473.7
- Asked the court clerk which form or motion to use, fees, and who gets a copy
If the court file is gone
- Declaration signed under penalty of perjury
- Copy of my DOJ record attached
After the order
- Certified copy of the order, kept safe with my immigration papers
- DOJ record checked again to see the update
- Lawyer's OK before any immigration filing or travel
