What to say when you call

What to say when you call
Calling the county or a clinic
"Hello. I live in ________ County. I would like to know what health coverage my family can get. There are ___ people in my home. ___ are children under 19. ___ is pregnant." (Leave out what does not apply.)
"Can you help me apply today, or tell me where to go?"
"What papers should I bring?"
If they say no: "Is there restricted scope Medi-Cal or a county program I can get instead? Can I have that in writing?"
Calling about a letter
"I got a letter dated ________. Can you tell me what it means and what I need to do by when?"
"My Medi-Cal ended on ________. I understand I have three months to sign up again. How do I do that?"
Before you hang up, write down: the name of the person, the date, and what they told you to do next.
You can ask what programs exist without saying anything about your immigration status. If an application asks, answer truthfully for the people applying, and ask a legal helper if you are unsure.
