Screening
- Booked a screening with an attorney or DOJ accredited representative. Date: ________
- Checked them on the State Bar site or the DOJ roster
- Asked about: U visa, T visa, VAWA, SIJS, family petitions, 245(i), registry, asylum
- Next screening (every year or two, or after a big change): ________
Records (copies in the folder, originals safe at home)
- Any papers from the border, ICE, immigration court or USCIS
- FOIA request for my USCIS file, if my screener said yes
- Court papers for any arrest or case, even old ones
- Birth, marriage and divorce papers; children's birth certificates
- Proof I live here, with dates: leases, bills, pay stubs, school and medical records, tax returns
Protect my family
- Family plan and caregiver form done
- Children's passports or nationality papers started
- Money plan made
- Red card in my wallet
- Savings for future fees started
Avoid
- No false papers, ever
- No travel abroad before talking to a lawyer
- No payments to anyone selling a "new program" or a place in line
