My work log and agreement checklist
Before you start, agree on (in writing if you can)
- Pay rate per hour, and when and how you will be paid
- Your regular days and hours
- Overtime pay for extra hours
- Paid sick days
- If you live in: your room, meals, and your time off
- What happens if the family goes on vacation
Weekly log (copy for each week)
- Family name and address:
- For each day: date, start time, end time, breaks, night calls
- Main tasks that day (child care, adult care, cleaning, cooking)
- Pay received, date, and how (cash, check, app)
Keep
- Texts about hours and pay
- Screenshots of payment apps
- Notes about anything you were promised
