Sponsor checklist before signing Form I-864
- Form I-864, edition 08/24/26, every page from the same edition
- Household size counted: me, spouse, children under 21, tax dependents, people I'm sponsoring now and before
- Income at least 125% of the I-864P line for that size (checked the official table)
- Latest federal tax return or IRS transcript, W-2s or 1099s, recent pay stubs
- Credit freeze lifted or ready to lift if USCIS asks
- If income is short: I-864A household member, assets (3x or 5x the gap), or one joint sponsor
- Joint sponsor and household members know their promise is the same as mine
- I understand it lasts until citizenship, 40 quarters, departure with loss of status, or death, and divorce does not end it
- Reminder set: Form I-865 within 30 days of any move
- Copy kept
