Warrant check: keep this by the door
Do not open the door. Ask: "Which agency are you with?" Ask: "Please slide the paper under the door."
Check three things:
- Top: Does it name a court ("United States District Court" or "Superior Court")? Or does it say "Department of Homeland Security"?
- Signature: Does it say "Judge" or "Magistrate"? Or "immigration officer"?
- Details: Is our address right? Does the person named live here?
ICE form (I-200 or I-205), no judge: say through the door, "I do not consent to you entering. I am choosing to remain silent."
Judge's warrant: do not resist. Stay silent. Sign nothing. Ask for a lawyer.
After: write down the time, agency, badge numbers and what happened. Call:
- San Mateo County (203) 666-4472 or Santa Clara County (408) 290-1144
