Say:
- "I'm really glad you told me."
- "Are you thinking about killing yourself?"
- "I'm staying with you."
- "Let's call 988 together."
Do:
- Stay with them, in person or on the phone
- Ask if they have a plan or something to hurt themselves with
- Help move away guns, pills or other dangerous things, or tell an adult who can
- Call or text 988 together. Spanish: press 2, or text AYUDA to 988
- Tell a trusted adult today
- Check on them again in the next days
Do not:
- Promise to keep it a secret
- Argue, judge or joke
- Try to handle it alone
